My brother has had the last few days and tomorrow canceled! And I've gotten up at 7 every morning this week and driven to work all the way across town. There is no reason for him to be missing school

How cold has it been? Also, have you not had a lot of snow? It's been really cold here lately and we've gotten quite a bit of snow this week too.

We got about 4 inches a few days ago and it has been below 20 but above -5 all week.

I'm rooting for one.

Hmm, they're probably cancelled because of the cold or something.

See, in North Carolina, where I live, our school days are cancelled or delayed, the day of . Sometimes, they cancel it at 5 AM, and one time they cancelled it at 8 AM...after many schools had already started. The school system in Wake County (Raleigh area), is so screwed up.

That's usually how it is. This is the first time since I've lived in this city, around 8 years, they've delayed the night before.

I'm very jealous! I live in southeastern Wisconsin and with wind chill, the temperature was around -30º all day. Of course we still had to go to school. Only in Wisconsin do kids still get sent to school when its that cold. My face was numb from the minute I spent walking from my car to the school. I'm still hoping for a cold day tomorrow, but I doubt it'll happen. Enjoy your delay!

Yep, I'm hoping too

I think it's more normal for you that low temp, NY rarely gets windchill that low. Even with Lake Ontario being right there. I'd tough it out through the cold, but hey, if they want to delay, delay.

when I was in 5th grade, we had 1 day where our school was canceled the night before before, that was the only time I ever remember school being canceled the night before (I live in northern Idaho).

This is true. It was -50 with wind chill at one point last year and we did get a cold day then. Exactly, in the end it's up to them if they want to delay the school day. I wouldn't complain about getting one though haha! Unless you have to make up days in the summer because of having this time off. That wouldn't be cool...

when I was in 5th grade (2007) we had 4 snow days in 1 week, we had 8 snow days taht year, its the most the district had ever had. the week where we had 4 snow days, the only day we had school was on wednesday. thats the only time I ever remember our district canceling school the night before (canceled school for friday on thursday night). our district never delays school for 2 hours though, even when every other district in the area does. (this is in northern Idaho)

No, usually if we get like more than 5 before Feb 1 I think they'll take our Mid-Winter break away, if we get a further 5 after that, we can say bye to Spring Break. Only once did we actually lose our break, that was 2007 when we had 1 week where we got like 10 feet of snow and a full week off of school.

Oh wow, that's insane! I can't say we've ever gotten that much snow. As much as it would suck to lose a break, it's good that your school does have a different plan than going into summer. That would be much worse, in my opinion. Looks like you should be okay for now since you only had one full day off so far, but who knows what'll happen?

We usually don't cancel that often. Usually we don't get really large storms like that often either, it was a freak storm. That's usually our entire winter haul.

Yeah, I think the only place where 10 feet of snow over a week could maybe be considered normal would be in Alaska. But that's still a lot, especially to me since we get 3ish feet (I'm guessing here) of snow over our entire winter.

The Syracuse area is like second in the entire country in average snow fall. We average 141 inches I think. So nearly 12 feet of snow over winter.

Wow! I definitely believe you guys are second in the country with numbers like that! That's crazy. Anyway, enjoy sleeping in or however you plan to spend your extra two hours tomorrow!

Likely sleeping until around 8ish.
